The Brief
In this Case Study Frame3D has been supported in the development of their own business idea. AYE’s goal is the development of Personalised Eyewear. The project was focused on develop 3D modelling algorithms that would allow the user and the optician to personalise the eyewear frame according to the facial morphology and the aesthetical level.
The Challenge
Spectacles Frames have standard sizes
People that need to wear spectacles use them for several hours a day the frame features have a huge impact on the comfort and aesthetics
Additive Manufacturing Technologies provide several opportunities for personalisation
The Goal
The goal of AYE is to develop an Eyewear Configurator to allow the user and the optician to personalise the spectacles frame and to manufacture it with Additive Manufacturing Technologies.
1. Discover
Identified Issues:
Spectacles are a product worn everyday and for many hours and this impact the comfort
People sacrifices the comfort to get something nicer or cheaper
Try the product is a crucial step in the purchase journey
The experience and product aesthetic can be compromised by a configuration poorly guided
3. Develop
The development stage involved the following activities:
Eyewear 3DModel
Personalisation Algorithm refinement
Configurator Journey and Integration with Shapediver Platform
4. Deliver - Project Pitch
In the Deliver stage, I developed a ShapeDiver prototype and prepared a pitch to help present the project to potential seed investors. The ShapeDiver prototype allowed for interactive 3D model visualization, showcasing the project's concept and functionality, while the pitch highlighted the value proposition, market potential, and overall project vision to attract investment.
