Dualia is an innovative split air conditioner developed as part of the project laboratory in the Master’s program in Design & Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, commissioned by the appliances company Midea. The concept of Dualia goes beyond traditional air conditioning, focusing on not only cooling the environment but also improving air quality by collecting and filtering dust and other airborne particles.
What sets Dualia apart is its dynamic design, which changes in appearance during use. The air conditioner features a unique filtering fabric cover that shifts in texture and color as it captures dust and pollutants, visually indicating the cleaning process in action. This transformation highlights the product’s functionality while enhancing its aesthetic appeal, making it both a practical and visually engaging addition to any space.
Developed by a multidisciplinary team, Dualia combines sleek, modern design with advanced air filtration technology, creating a healthier, more comfortable environment. The project reflects a commitment to sustainability and innovation, addressing the growing demand for multifunctional, user-centered home appliances.
